DOVINGTON CAMP
OO-Gauge BR by Paul Taylor
A ‘Dual purpose’ MOD establishment
This layout can connect to “Aneilan Road”
Dovington Camp can be exhibited in two formats, both in two time periods (1960’s and 1980/90s).
Short Format 1 (6ft.) In it's smallest form shunting the MOD depot, and forming trains.
Standard Format (12ft.) MOD depot including fiddle yard, forming the 'main line'
By connecting to Aneilan Road the layout extends to 21ft. This provides a longer 1980/90's version of Dovington Camp linking it with the local town of Aneilen on the other side of the river.
Dovington Camp was initially designed to be in Somerset, but operated separately or with Aneilan Road - it could be almost anywhere (a secret location perhaps!). The layout has previously been exhibited connected to “Winchester Cannonicorum”, but this layout has been dismantled!
The following photos give a good impression of the layout, stand-alone, and connected to Aneilan Road.

Inside view of main stores offices
Dovington Camp was developed during World War II, as an Army stores depot, and training unit. This has been rationalised over time but still maintains a rail link for the movement of fuel, stores, munitions and a wide variety of military vehicles. A few old MoD locos are maintained to shunt the Depot.
Operations in either the 1960s or 1980/90s is possible, with a variety of railway locomotives/stock, military vehicles, signage etc. Linking the layout provides additional scope for passenger trains.
