Gordano Bridge is essentially a layout for “watching the trains go by”. Plenty of movement, all can be controlled automatically using train detection systems.
The layout is designed to be operated completely automatically, although some degree of manual operation is available. Two systems have been used: the four main lines are operated by the Heathcote Irdot System and Kent Panel Controls have been utilised on the three branch lines. Controllers used are by AMR and Gaugemaster. All points have been wired to a diode matrix and a Capacitor Discharge Unit system. Working colour light signals are operative on the four main lines and upper level branch line using the Irdot system of control.
Motive power is of diesel outline covering at least five decades and using a variety of manufacturers including Graham Farish, Kato, Roco and Tomix.
The overall dimensions of the layout is 9ft x 3ft Construction of the layout provides two levels of operation. The scenic requirements has mainly been an exercise in bridge building, there being nine rail bridges, four road bridges and a road tunnel.









The layout is usually kept permanently operational in a spare bedroom. Local members of the N Gauge Society are sometimes invited to run the layout, and are free to bring their own stock. Recent sightings of A4 “Mallard”, and 9F “Evening Star” have been reported....
