Main Circular Test Track (“Roundie-round”)
This test track provides continuous running, utilising a large radius for the smaller scales of track, which enables locomotives to be tested at maximum running speeds. The test track has six circuits with track for the following gauges:
2 circuits of N/009/Hoe (proprietary N gauge track)
2 circuits of OO/HO/O-16.5/O-9 (proprietary OO gauge track)
1 circuit of 0 scale, and G scale (shared custom-built track)
TEST TRACKS (Layouts)
Used for running members locomotives during Club nights
Two separate photographs, each showing one side of the test circuit. At the time, there were one ‘N-gauge locomotive (Battle of Britain streamlined), and three 00 gauge locomotives running.
Mini End-to-End Test Track
This test track is shown being constructed, although the track work is now completed. It is an 00 gauge layout, incorporating a narrow-gauge 009 track. During club nights, the layout can be used to test N-gauge locomotives, since the track is 9mm, identical to the N-Gauge standard. The layout will be completed as a scenic diorama, making it suitable for display at exhibitions as a small 00 gauge shunting layout.
